The Problem

The building was undergoing major renovations and an addition. The owner did not have as-built plans to start their design analysis. They also required 3D modelling of the existing HVAC system throughout the building on top of an architectural BIM model. The property was currently operating, so completing the as-built measurements with traditional methods was difficult.

The Solution

We used 3D laser scanning technology to capture all the details of the space, including walls, heights, elevations, and HVAC requirements. This method was easy to use and had little to no disturbance to daily operations. Measuring was completed in less than three hours.

The Outcome

We provided a complete, up-to-date BIM as-built package for the future layout creation and analysis. We paid close attention to the HVAC requirements, as they were crucial to the project's success due to the business's nature.
